The HJ24ex7.5B offers specifications that are a dramatic improvement over its predecessor: a focal range from 7.5mm at the wide end to 180mm at the tele end, along with a 24x zoom ratio. A breakthrough lens delivering the world’s widest angle and highest zoom ratio in its class*, the HJ24ex7.5B is ideally situated for many applications, including news, sports, and documentaries.

 The new HJ24ex7.5B not only builds on the outstanding optical performance of its predecessor, but extends optical performance still further. It delivers a wider angle and higher zoom ratio, while at the same time providing excellent aberration correction over the entire zoom range for sharper and clearer images. The combination of excellent specifications and high image quality makes possible a broad range of expression.
 The HJ24ex7.5B incorporates a new and enhanced Drive Unit. The new high-performance encoder supports communication with 2/3″ HDTV cameras equipped with aberration correction functionality, without initializing the lens. Three 20-pin connectors enable high-definition virtual video output even during full-servo operation. In addition, reduced power consumption and the new simplified display mode (Basic Mode) enhance operability.

    Advanced Autofocus technology

    Canon’s Advanced Autofocus Technology keeps images in focus so camera operators can concentrate on the shot. It employs a TTL-Secondary Image Registration Phase-detection system, originally developed for single-lens reflex still cameras, to ensure both high-accuracy and a high tracking capability. Two autofocus operating modes are available as well as a choice of three positions of the AF frame in the viewfinder.

    Image Stabilization Technology

    A built-in Optical Shift Image Stabilizer (identified by Shift-IS) system that effectively removes image stabilities especially at the telephoto extremes of the lens. This is a second generation system that embodies new refinements including separate horizontal and vertical control with high / low sensitivity settings.

    Digital Technologies

    Second-generation precision digital servo systems using Canon-developed 16-bit optical rotary encoder devices ensure high precision and repeatability of the Zoom and Focus settings. Encoders report to the 32-bit CPU – which, in turn, calculates during the focusing actuation to tightly control a synchronized zoom counter action that eliminates focus “breathing”. This Constant Angle Focusing System is identified by the CAFS logo.

    Optical performance that goes beyond 4K even when using the built-in 2x extender

    Compatibility with HD lens systems

    Along with achieving the optimal positioning of lenses, use of high-grade components and the precision of the assembly help the UHD DIGISUPER 27 to deliver an optical performance that goes beyond 4K even when the built-in 2x extender is used. All this with a focal length, zoom magnification, weight and body size that are on par with HDTV-compatible studio zoom lenses.
     Ease of operation is greatly improved, with the new ‘L-Progress’ design and advance features such as the CAFS function that minimizes the changes in the angle of view (known as “breathing”) that accompany focusing, and a 20-pin connector that enables the zoom, focus and iris position information to be read and output using a high-precision encoder. This is very useful in sports relays, weather forecasts and other video productions in which virtual systems are used.
     Just like on other Canon 4K lenses, with the UHD DIGISUPER 27, you can mobilize the high precision controllers and servo modules of an HDTV-compatible zoom lens for use during power-driven zooming and focusing operations.
